Shorts is an open mic storytelling event – 8 minute true short stories told live onstage without notes. It is patterned after the NPR Podcast, The Moth.
The idea is to bring Shorts to different venues (schools, cafes, bars, co-working spaces, etc.) as an alternative way to spend a fun evening with friends and family listening to live stories.
Every event night has a Theme which the stories should follow. If you want to tell your story, you can drop your name in a box by the entrance (Name Drop), from where we will pick out 8 names for our Shorts-List of storytellers.
If you are Shorts-Listed, your name will be called and you then go on stage to tell your 8 minute story. If you weren’t Shorts-Listed or didn’t Name Drop, it should still be fun just listening to the stories.
Your stories will be recorded, upon your written consent. They will form part of our online Shorts Gallery which everyone can access and enjoy.
Shorts Events are produced in partnership with the Digital Freedom Network, a non-profit organization.
